Pati Patni Aur Woh: Kartik Aaryan On Controversial Rape Monologue- ‘Showed It To Many People, No One Pointed Out’
Ever since Pati Patni Aur Woh trailer was released, the trailer divided the audience into two sections – one, where they were hailing the stars Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Panday and Aaryan’s monologue, the other section – the monologue received severe backlash from the netizens. Kartik’s film not having a monologue where he rants about women seems a bit incomplete and hence, the makers wanted to create the same essence in Pati Patni Aur Woh as well. However, when the netizens slammed the makers for using marital rape as a thing, the makers claimed that they got “carried away” and are considering editing it out of the final cut of the movie. They agree that the outcome has been “offensive” and in a bid to correct it.

As the feminists raised their concern on this, Kartik Aaryan spoke about this matter while speaking to the media sections. He was quoted saying, "We didn't realise it when we were doing it. We had shown it to a lot of people, but no one had pointed it out. We didn't want to hurt anyone's sentiments. This isn't the topic of our film nor was this our intention." He was also quoted saying that the team takes full responsibility because it might have come across as something that wasn’t their intention. They have realized that they shouldn’t have used the word (rape); hence the team has rectified it and made changes accordingly.

For the uninitiated, Kartik Aaryan's monologue, "Biwi se sex maang lein, toh hum bhikaari. Biwi ko sex mana kar dein, toh hum atyachaari aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke uss se sex haasil kar lein na toh balaatkaari bhi hum hain" was not very well received by the Twitteratis and hence, ended up facing the wrath of them.

In an interview with IANS, she was quoted saying, "When I read the script, all the doubts that I had simply vanished. This is not frivolous... The story is very empowering to both genders. I think that the makers made sure that this does not turn into a sexist, baseless film. I do not think anyone who is part of this film, including us actors, belong to that school. We were extremely conscious of the fact that we do not end up making it into a sexist comment."

Pati Patni Aur Woh releases on December 6, 2019.
